Surpassing Sellia
The first step in locating Eternal Darkness is to break the seal of Sellia, Caelid’s Town of Sorcery. After entering the village by the main gate or the Sellia Understair, players must seek out and kindle three flames. Unlocking the Sellia barrier requires a little more effort, but it has numerous advantages and is well worth the effort. Head up into the hills behind the town after obtaining Sellia’s treasure.
The Winding Path
After Sellia, there’s a long, meandering climb up a well-guarded slope. There are skeletons everywhere, and the first one, wielding a glaive, appears to be quite powerful. Two boulders will try to crush the player at inappropriate times, and they will roll on their own schedule rather than at the mercy of gravity. After completing the skeleton gauntlet, players can begin Millicent’s questline at the Church of Plague.

The Tower And The Bridge
Following the Church, players must continue along the path to Sellia’s gate. Bats and, more importantly, Winged Dames, the flying, singing terrors who occasionally assist the bats, patrol the road. It’s usually best to ride right by them, as they don’t cause too much trouble for players. Also a chance to find some Caelid-only crafting materials.
It’s risky to use the gate as a bridge, but it’s the only route forward. A group of invisible Sellia spellswords stands in the middle of the bridge/gate, each swift on the draw and wielding a Carian Greatsword spell.
After fighting a Bloodhound Knight, it’s a straight route to a watchtower with the spell within… after defeating them. Bloodhound Knight Darriwil is no slouch, as anybody who has faced him knows — be wary. A situational yet beneficial spell that eliminates other spells and incantations is the prize.
