How To Defeat The Stormhill Golem In Elden Ring

How To Defeat The Stormhill Golem In Elden Ring. There are a few bosses in early Elden Ring that are meant to drive players in a different direction, encouraging exploration so they can grow stronger and return later. One of these bosses is the Golem in Stormhill, which is significantly simpler to defeat in the early levels than the Tree Sentinel or Margit.

The Stormhill Golem can be located in the boulder-strewn meadow to the left of the Stormhill ravine (the ravine next to the Gatefront Grace with the Troll who drops down). It is inert at beginning but will come to life if you go too close – this boss started with half HP in the Elden Ring Network Test, but players will have to face it on at full strength in the actual release.

The Moveset And Weaknesses Of The Stormhill Golem

Stormhill’s Golem has a less robust moveset than Golems later in Elden Ring, yet its attacks are similar to Giants’ attacks in earlier FromSoftware games. It wields a massive Halberd that can sweep over nearly the entire boulder field, and its close-range assaults can instantly knock a player off Torrent if they don’t move out of the way.

The Stormhill Golem, on the other hand, is simple to cheese from afar for spellcasters and archers, and surprisingly easy to stagger in combat. The Golem moves slowly over the battlefield, plodding towards you, despite the fact that it has few options for closing the distance and can be kited across his large, flat arena.

The Moveset of the Golem

  • Long-Range Halberd Sweep: After a brief pause, the Golem will bend and drag its Halberd back to one side, unleashing a tremendously long-range sweeping assault. Damage is significant, but it can be leaped over.
  • If the player is standing exactly beneath the Golem, it will begin stomping and bashing its Halberd into the ground repeatedly. High damage, but dodging backwards is an easy way to dodge it.
  • Long-Range Halberd Slam: The Golem will raise its weapon and slam it down from a long distance, similar to the Halberd sweep. The damage is very high, and it is faster than the sweep.
  • If the player spends too much time beneath the Golem, it will lower its head and crawl backwards while breathing a torrent of flame at its feet. The flames do a lot of damage, but if you sprint backwards, you can dodge them.

Weaknesses of the Golem

The Stormhill Golem is marginally resistant to most attacks, however, like the Greek mythical hero Achilles, all you have to do is target the heel to make this fight a breeze. The Golem will collapse and provide you an opportunity for a Critical Hit in chest if you cause enough damage to the heel area on either leg, which neatly indicated with inner flames.

Because the Golem comprised of tough material, avoid using cutting or piercing weapons on this stone-laden behemoth. Swords, Daggers, Lances, and other pokey armaments in Elden Ring fracture this strong hide and deliver far more damage than blunt weapons like Hammers and Maces.

The Stormhill Golem: Strategies for Defeating It

Torrent is the greatest technique to take on the Stormhill Golem, whether you’re an Archer, Incantation user, Sorcerer, or Melee-only player. It’s a lot simpler to escape away from its sluggish sweeps and slams, and timing a charge attack to its heels while riding past is a surefire way to break its Posture in a hurry (especially with high-STR weapons like Greatswords).

This encounter does not allow you to use Spirit Summons, but there are other possibilities. When called with you, other players can explore large areas of Elden Ring’s open environment. Including the entire Stormhill area, though riding Torrent not permitted during multiplayer. If you require another player, make sure you prepared to avoid stomping strikes and attack its heels when you have the opportunity.

Spellcasting/Ranged

Spellcasters and ranged players have the easiest time dealing with the Stormhill Golem since they can ride away and unleash volley after volley of Sorceries and arrows from a safe distance. Incantation users will have a harder difficulty with this because their spells wear out faster than arrows or Sorceries.

While Sorcerers and Archers can avoid hit by the Golem’s melee attacks by sprinting closer, casting a spell. And sprinting away, Incantation users will have to rush closer, cast a spell, and sprint away before hit by one of the Golem’s melee attacks.

Melee Techniques

Melee players should also stay on Torrent for this fight because it’s far safer to run in, land a couple of Heavy hits on the Golem’s heel, then sprint away than it is to hang around its feet. Be aware of its sweeping attack and jump over it, as well as the vertical slam to the right or left. Aim for the heels to stun the Golem and give yourself a chance at a Critical Hit.

The one disadvantage of riding Torrent that if you hit by one of assaults, you will almost certainly knocked off and subject to a follow-up attack. If you must be on foot, cause extra damage by striking each leg and never running, but beware of its short-range AoE stomping combo when it discovers you are directly below it.
