Who Is Lady Dimitrescu In Real Life. “Surreal.” Maggie Robertson, who plays Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village. Recalls the public reaction to her performance in this way.
But it has to be that way. The “don’t step on me”s. “Mommy’s,” as they’re known. Having the moniker “the tall vampire lady.” Becoming a cultural icon.
But what causes such a strong reaction from the audience? What is it about Lady Dimitrescu that has fans so enthralled?
Robertson describes her as “absolutely sensual, attractive, and powerful.” “And I think power is sexy when you see intelligent women. Who are so sure of themselves that they don’t need anyone else.”
“I believe that’s one of the reasons she’s had such an impact: she’s unapologetically herself.” She doesn’t fit in anywhere. But she’s not afraid to show it and demand the respect she deserves.”
Despite this, Robertson caught off guard by the internet’s collective appetite and didn’t want to create a sexualized persona; it was just a natural outcome.
She explains, “I was just attempting to create the figure that I saw before me.” “She’s also curvy and sensual.” As a result it was critical to do her justice and build a seductive. Passionate, and powerful character.”
Lady Dimitrescu In Real Life
Lady Dimitrescu’s voice and movement handled by Robertson (the face model was Helena Mankowska). Everything influenced by the character design. Her regal demeanour inspired by her curves, sweeping headdress, and cigarette. “She’s a little transatlantic,” as she puts it.
And, because Robertson had just finished her masters in classical acting before landing the role – her first in video games. No less – she attempted to imbue the role with a feeling of Shakespearean grandeur.
“Because you in these extremely heightened locations,” Robertson explains. “This game very Shakespearean.” “Lady D, on the other hand highly heightened.” Her style and mannerism in the way she talks everything not simply her height. Her phrasing is really elaborate.”
Robertson has a “genuine love of language and a love of experimenting with words and sounds.” And this part gave him the chance to do just that, transitioning from smooth, exquisite lines to a more aggressive, staccato rhythm in full monster form.
“I liked the idea of having an internal rhythm as opposed to an external rhythm,” Robertson explains. “Her outward rhythm is what you see: this controlled facade where she’s in command of everything around her, nothing bothers her, and she’s regal.” Then there’s her internal rhythm, which is more forceful, with a lot of cutting violence. There has to be a genuine sense of risk, as though she would do something unexpected.”
Robertson had enough of material to sink her teeth into thanks to the character. She enjoys portraying villains in order to figure out what makes them tick. “[Lady D] made her daughters, she chose to be a mother.” So, how does that make you feel about her? “How does that affect her personality and motivations?” she asks.
“With mother Miranda, she loses sight of the end aim because her children slain. That’s a lot of power. And it’s a lot of fun to play that role as an actor. It simply provided me with a lot of material to work with. It was a lot of fun.”
Robertson expected the upcoming Resident Evil game to a big event. But she didn’t expect such a strong reaction to her own performance. Lady Dimitrescu has taken on a new identity after the game’s debut. Lady Dimitrescu stepped all over 2021, from jokes to cosplays to makeup styles to fanfiction.
“Once it’s out there it’s up to the audience to take it.” “Now it’s up to them to transform this art into whatever they want it to be,” Robertson says. “I believe that’s what occurred with Lady D.” We released her into the universe, and now the fans are helping to develop and deepen her character.
“To that end, I believe Lady D will always exist and will continue to grow and change.” It’s fantastic.”
It has also resulted in the character being a symbol for the LGBT+ community. Robertson is quite proud of her status as a crucial icon for the queer community since she is different. Othered, and doesn’t fit in.
“I never anticipated to have an impact on a community that I care profoundly about, to be able to provide that safe environment and that sense of home and welcome, and simply unconditional love and acceptance,” Robertson says.

“The viewers are continually commenting on how much we, the performers, give them.” But, in reality, you guys offer a lot back to us as well. Witnessing that kind of love, acceptance, and community is quite motivating, and it motivates me to keep going and accomplish what I’m doing.”
Robertson was first concerned about the response, but she is grateful to the town for welcoming Lady Dimitrescu and herself as an actress.
Resident Evil Village
“I was sitting there, anonymously, on the internet, witnessing all of the thirst,” she adds. “And I scared that when I first introduced, that would reflected back on me.” However, I pleasantly surprised.
“I believe it speaks to the community that once my name released, the vast majority of what I received simply an outpouring of love and thank yous, and we love your work, and all of that.” It was also about the work, which what I wanted it to about in the first place.”
There’s also a sense of separation in that the avatar doesn’t resemble Robertson, allowing her to relax and enjoy the game as a spectator. In comparison to her past work in theatre and music, she views it as “liberating.”
The burden of becoming a role model comes with the fan reaction. “Just feeling the weight of how much you now mean to other people may be overpowering,” Robertson adds.
There is a downside to online celebrity. To avoid any unfavourable comments among the thirst, Robertson has rigorously curtailed her time on social media.
“Remembering that the bad you discover out there are truly the minority,” she says, is comforting to her. “And if you look somewhere else, you will find an even greater abundance of positives.” And knowing yourself – I believe knowing oneself is beneficial.”
In terms of what’s ahead, Robertson remains mum on whether Lady Dimitrescu will make an appearance in future Resident Evil Village DLC. Robertson, on the other hand, would love to reprise the part in the future. “I find her incredibly fascinating.” “And she still has so many more levels to uncover,” she adds.
There’s a bit of apprehension about continuing under Lady Dimitrescu’s tall shadow, and Robertson is eager for a fresh challenge. “Rather than the gigantic giantess vampire, let me play the little derpy frog!” she exclaims.
Despite having to transition from acting in rural theatre to a breakout performance in a global hit video game, Robertson is happy of her work with Lady Dimitrescu.
She says, “Lady D will stay with me for the rest of my life.” “It’s strange to think about having a legacy that you can carry with you now, forever.”
