This puzzle begins and ends at the Hall of the Four, where four faceless angel statues must be given faces before you can progress. The goal is straightforward: find a mask for each statue to unlock the door to freedom.
The Mask of Joy, Pleasure, Sorrow, and Rage are four angel masks that can be found throughout the castle. This problem will take some time to finish because Castle Dimitrescu is a rather vast, multi-layered place that you’ll have to visit in phases.

What is the Resident Evil Village mask puzzle, and what does it entail?
The faceless sculptures in Castle Dimitrescu’s Hall of the Four are certainly familiar to you. It’s north of the Merchant’s Room and west of the Main Hall. Each of these statues’ masks is kept hidden somewhere within the Castle. All you have to do now is locate them, return to the Hall of the Four, and set them on the appropriate statue. Check the fitting at the rear (use ‘observe’ in your inventory) or read the clues about emotions to figure out which mask corresponds to which statue.
WHERE TO FIND THE RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE MASKS
Resident Evil Village Mask of SorrowÂ
You must first enter Lady Dimitrescu’s Chambers on the second floor to obtain the Resident Evil Village Mask of Sorrow. She will hurl you down a cellar from which you can reach the Hall of Sorrow after a less-than-friendly conversation with the Lady herself. Lady Dimitrescu, on the other hand, will pursue you until you reach the Mask of Sorrow.
To open the door, use Lady Dimitrescu’s key. The statue with the mask will be directly in front of you. It’s always on the person with the lowest head (the one going to be stabbed). The platform and statue will travel upwards when you take it, leading you to the Courtyard above.
Resident Evil Village Mask of Joy
To get the Resident Evil Village Mask of Joy, you’ll need to use the Iron Insignia Key to gain admission to the Library. It is possible to obtain it by playing the piano at the Opera Hall (located north of the Courtyard). Simply alter the height of each new note to match the one on the paper to complete the piano puzzle. After that, you can dash upstairs to the Opera Hall’s second floor and use your new Iron Insignia Key to open the Library’s door.
Unfortunately, in the Library, one of Dimitrescu’s daughters is waiting for you. You must first kill her (by opening the skylight and exposing her to cold, which renders her vulnerable), and then proceed to the Hall of Joy. On your right, you’ll see the statue with the Mask of Joy.
Resident Evil Village Mask of Rage
The plot will now take you to the Atelier, where you must solve the Five Bells Puzzle, before moving on to the Attic and rooftop. Keep an eye out for harpies in this area. Continue strolling over the roof (do not take the elevator yet) until you reach the zipline in the Belfry tower on the map’s right side. Use it to land in front of the Resident Evil Village Mask of Rage in the Tower of Rage.
Use the nearest ladder and then the elevator to return to the first floor after acquiring the mask.
Resident Evil Village Mask of Pleasure
Finally, you must locate the Pleasure Hall. Continue racing to your right until you reach the door with the gaping mouth on the second level of the Main Hall. The door to the Hall of Pleasure is located at the end of the hallway behind it. With Dimitrescu’s key, open it.

Unfortunately, removing the Resident Evil Village Mask of Pleasure has closed the door in your face. The only other option is to go to the Armory, where another Dimitrescu daughter awaits you. Finish her by exposing her to the cold once more (using the pipe bomb to blow the wall down). You can now take the Mounted Animal Skull from the wall and use it in place of the Mask of Pleasure.
All you have to do now is look at the knob on the back of the Mounted Animal Skull, and you’ll just have the Animal Skull left. Remove the Pleasure Mask from the statue and replace it with the Animal Skull. You can now return to the Hall of the Four by opening the door.
How to open the door in the Hall of the Four
You’re almost done now. Keep an eye out for Lady Dimitrescu, since she’ll be trying to kill you while you’re putting on your masks. After you’ve placed each angel mask in the Hall of the Four, the door will automatically open, allowing you to finally leave Castle Dimitrescu.
