iOS 14.5 release date
The public beta of iOS 14.5 can now be downloaded, thus an official release date is due to arrive soon. We recommend that you do this on a secondary device if you want to try the beta. We expect to release the final version of iOS 14.5 in March.

Unlock with Apple Watch with iOS 14.5
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we all learned about Face ID shortcomings. The Face Masks confused the sensors of Face ID, which means we had to manually unlock our iPhones for the past year or so. Fortunately, Apple has found a solution, although there’s one big reserve: an Apple Watch is necessary.
Apple Watch Unlock is just how it sounds. Exactly. You can change Face ID to unlock your iPhone using the wearable Apple. Both devices need to be close to each other, otherwise you need to manually unlock the phone. For this to work, the Apple Watch must also be opened.
You can head to Settings under Face ID and Passcode after you have iOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4. Note that you cannot authenticate purchases in Apple Pay or the App Store using Unlock with Apple Watch. You still need your face or passcode.
App tracking transparency in iOS 14.5
A major change that Apple planned to make since it announced iOS last summer adds a new tracking transparency policy to iOS 14.5. In order to access your advertising ID, developers such as Facebook must ask for your permission. This ID lets you track apps and websites.
Certain features of this privacy already exist in iOS 14, but app developers can apply the new policy on 14.5 before applications are taken off the App Store.
When all is live, a new pop up will ask you whether you want the app to track yourself. Again, Apple seeks pure simplicity. This is a great step in the way of confidentiality, and we look forward to seeing it happen.
Apple Maps crowdsourcing accidents (and speed traps) in iOS 14.5
In iOS 14.5, Apple Maps will copy a popular Waze key. It will use real drivers as its main competitors can for road accidents, speed traps and other hazards. A dedicated button is available on the phone and in CarPlay in Maps — simple but effective. It’s available.
Teach Siri your favorite music app in iOS 14.5
iOS 14 lets you select a long-overdue change in your default browser and e-mail apps. Unfortunately, iOS 14.5 will not let you also set a default music app but you can teach Siri about your favourite apps in time.
You will be prompted to include a list of applications when you tell Siri to play a song without specifying an app; simply tap on the one you want to use. Over time, Siri may learn to make it impossible, although this could take the last version of iOS 14.5 to work in its entirety. Allow your hands on one of the new controllers to be ready enough while the PS5 and Xbox Series X remain in short supplies. You can pair this with your iPhone in iOS 14.5 if you have one, whether a PlayStation 5 DualSense or an Xbox Series X|S controller.
Apple Fitness Plus AirPlay 2 support in iOS 14.5
iOS 14.5 supports Apple Fitness Plus in AirPlay 2, allowing you to cast your training on any AirPlay 2-enabled display.
Notice that the metrics of Apple Watch are not displayed on the bigger screen. These data points must be viewed on your iPhone or iPad.
Support for Dual-SIM 5G in iOS 14.5
On iOS 14.5 with the iPhone 12 range, Dual-SIM iPhone users can use 5G globally. Dual-SIM means that on a single device, you can run two separate service lines. This is great for people who maintain a separate work and individual lines, or for international journeys.
If iOS lands 14.5, both SIMs have full 5G speeds.
Find My app in iOS 14.5
You seem to be able to start Apple soon with the AirTags to help you find items such as your keypad and wallet. The new Apple Find My App shows a pair of screenshot of iOS 14.5 beta 3 from Twitter users @IceCoolTech. And the app refers to accessories from third parties, with a section on the items where different things can be traced.
“In addition non-Apple products to find my,” the sceenshot says for What’s New in Search My. Look for your backpack, your luggage, your headphones or anything. That indicates that the AirTags are on the way.
From iOS 14.5, iPhone users can also use the Apple Find My application to locate their PowerBeats Pro headphones. Find my app, including the iPhone, Mac Books, Apple Watch and AirPods, is supported by wireless earpods. Users can trigger the PowerBeats Pro sound to locate their buds.
Apple Card Family features
There is currently no way to share one Apple Card with several family members, creating a headaches if you like all your expenditure and balances under a single roof. This appears to change in iOS 14.5 with the latest beta hint for family features of Apple Card.
Especially, it looks like you can access your Apple Card by using iCloud family sharing. If you want to access balances and the history of spending, you can provide the full account access to them or limit their access to the card for purchases.
iOS 14.5 outlook
There is a great deal more that we didn’t discuss here, but there will be a lot of new additions to this update. Apple plans a large release to hit our iPhones and iPads. We are excited about it!
You can get the public beta right now, unless you sign up for the Apple beta programme, if it doesn’t wait until the iOS 14.5 version has been finished. It’s easy – just go to the Apple beta page in a browser that you want your beta to instal on. Using your Apple ID to sign up from there, you enrol your iPhone into the programme. You then follow the instructions on the screen to download and instal a beta profile on your phone.
The iOS 14.5 beta is rather stable; however, it is still beta, which means that there can be a number of problems. You may not want to submit to beta software vagaries if you are depending heavily on your phone during the day. If this is the case, stop there until iOS 14.5 is finished.

The next update for iOS 14 – iOS 14.5 – is now beta. Apple already placed this beta on developers and gave them a timeline to implement the new requirements for transparency tracking applications. A iOS 14.5 public beta is now also out, with Apple up to a beta 3 already upgrading to iOS 14.5.
The new release is underlined by the transparency of privacy, but we have found more iOS 14.5 functions worthy of note. Apple has also added a means of using Face ID to unlock a mask for your iPhone. iOS 14.5 also includes a major Find My app update that indicates the arrival of product finders for AirTags.
Many users are expected to update to iOS 14.5 when it is finished. Apple recently reported that iOS 14 has been installed on 80% of all iPhones active and on 86% of iPhones introduced over the last four years.
We found the most important additions through the iOS 14.5 beta, but this is not a complete, final list. It is also possible that in a few weeks before the final release of iOS 14.5 Apple will continue adding or modifying features.
