Age Of Empires 4: How To Auto Scout In AOE 4.One of the basic foundations of Age of Empires is exploring the landscape for resources, artefacts, and enemy bases. Auto scout is a mechanic and unit command that allows you to explore without having to micromanage your scouts. Is it possible to auto-scout in Age of Empires 4?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. In Age of Empires 4, there is no auto scout function. The unit command is featured in Age of Empires 2: DE and Age of Empires 3: DE, but not in the most recent instalment of the RTS genre.
However, there is a way to get around the system and make a pseudo auto scout command in AoE 4 by using waypoints. Select a unit or control group, hold shift, then right-click two or more locations anywhere on the map to create a waypoint. This method of exploration does not appear to work with several Hero units in campaign mode at the moment.
How To Auto Scout
Waypoints in Age 4 do not employ flags to denote their positions, unlike in Age of Empires, AoE 2, and AoE 3. In reality, after you’ve established a waypoint, there’s no way to tell where it is. You’ll just have to keep an eye on your units’ movements or hope that you’ve set them up appropriately from time to time.

Of course, your units will only move to and investigate the parts of the map you specify, and once they reach the last waypoint, they will idle. Without a proper auto scout, you’ll have to move them around manually to some extent.
Although auto scout is a contentious topic in the Age of Empires community, it is a function that casual players like using to quietly explore maps. It’s a unit command that grants a certain amount of freedom on huge maps, and it’s possible it’ll return in a future update. At the very least, let’s make waypoints with flags!
