All Lightfoot Locations Tears of the Kingdom. The Depths, a sizable underground environment in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, is just as large as Hyrule’s surface world. Link can enter this huge network of ruins, tunnels, and alien landscapes fairly early in the game, however navigating it may be challenging. When Link initially enters the Depths, he won’t be able to see much of anything because it is underground. Tears of the Kingdom incorporates the Lightroots mechanic to address this problem.
Lightroots are standalone waypoints that, when acted upon, show a small section of the subsurface map. Link won’t have to go far to find the next Lightroot because they are sporadically scattered across the Depths.

In Tears of the Kingdom, How Many Lightroots Are There?
There are 120 Lightroots total in Tears of the Kingdom, distributed throughout the Depths. It may seem utterly random when Link first starts to explore the underground area that each Lightroot is placed there. But as he advances, Link will start to see a pattern emerge in the placement of shrines on the surface and Lightroots in the Depths. In actuality, a surface shrine is a perfect match for all 120 Lightroots.
Check the ground for any of TotK’s shrines that are mismatched with their matching Lightroot if Link is having problems finding Lightroots. Link can locate lost surface shrines using the same procedure.

How Does Lightroots Function?
The procedure for dealing with a Lightroot will be the same whether Link follows the above procedure to find one or just comes across one while wandering. When Link notices the recognizable orange light of a Lightroot, he must proceed to the foot of the substantial orange “core,” where a recognizable Zonai green-hand prompt is located overhead.
Several things will occur as a result of Link’s interactions with the Lightroot. First, a quick cutscene that explains how the Lightroot works will start to play. Link will raise his Purah Pad and access the map of the Depths once the light has passed through all of the numerous roots. Each Lightroot displays a different amount of the map, and this amount might vary greatly. While some only partially expose the immediate area surrounding them, others partially reveal vast portions of the map.
The Lightroot will then restore any of Link’s hearts that have been harmed by Gloom after the map has been revealed. Since the method does not heal Link, Link will still need to replenish the hearts with food or sleep.
Link will be able to use a Lightroot as a fast-travel gate for the remainder of Tears of the Kingdom as the last benefit of finishing one.
Darkness-Eliminating Medal:
Link will be awarded the Dispelling Darkness Medal once he has finished all 120 Lightroots in Tears of the Kingdom. This object now seems to serve no use other than to make Link feel good about himself for receiving it.
