Will Sonic Frontiers Be Open World. By year’s end, a fresh Sonic game will released. Oh, my. It is also a 3D Sonic game. It’s time for the following major mainline Sonic game after the renowned SEGA mascot had a boom in popularity this year courtesy to the fantastic Origins collection and the entertaining new movie. Although the early impressions were a little iffy, Sonic Frontiers looks better and better with each new trailer, and the anticipation is gradually beginning to grow! But the real question is: Is it an open world game?
Will Sonic Frontiers Be Open World
Yes, most definitely! Sonic Team at SEGA has consistently marketed their next game as the first open-world Sonic title ever from the first teases and initial announcements for Sonic Frontiers. Is it open-zone, then? Get it? Similar to the zones in earlier Sonic games. In any case, since the original Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast, we’ve occasionally had those free roam zones in Sonic 3D games as well, although they were obviously far smaller and more constrained in scope than what will allegedly be available in Frontiers.
As it appears, Sonic Frontiers will contain five enormous overworld islands, each with a unique biome theme. So far, we have only seen the desert island from the most recent video and the forest island (called Chronos?). As seen in the videos, each of these open world areas. Will have a variety of platform challenges scattered throughout, but there will also be a lot of hidden objects, side quests, and puzzles to solve in the genuine open world game style. Even a fishing mini-game can found there!

It is currently unknown if the five open areas of the Starfall islands will integrated into a single continuous world without loading screens. If we will be able to access all areas right away like in Breath of the Wild, or if we will need to unlock each area separately. We do know that there will certain cyberspace portals to unlock that lead to more traditional 3D Sonic levels. Some of which confirmed to influenced by settings from earlier Sonic games, so the gameplay won’t just centred on the open world.
On November 8, 2022, Sonic Frontiers will launch on the Nintendo Switch. PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/Series S, and Microsoft Windows.
