Netflix has terminated Resident Evil after one season, according to Variety. The eight episodes of the video game adaptation’s first season debuted on July 14 of last month. Resident Evil’s premiere week saw over 72 million hours of streaming, making it the second-most watched Netflix programme that week, behind Stranger Things Season 4. During its second week of availability, Resident Evil plummeted to the third-place position, and by the third week, it was completely gone from Netflix’s top 10.
Resident Evil on Netflix had a tepid response from critics; it now has a Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of 55%. The consensus of the reviews states, “While Resident Evil comes closer than past adaptations to honour the complex narrative of the beloved video games, this zombie serial could still use more brains.” The show now has a 27 percent audience score while receiving generally negative reviews from viewers.
Ella Balinska and Tamara Smart played Jade Wesker and Billie Wesker, respectively, Adeline Rudolph and Siena Agudong played Evelyn Marcus, and Lance Reddick played Albert Wesker and his numerous clones in Netflix’s Resident Evil.
