In Minecraft Legends, the player assumes the character of a legendary hero whose mission is to bring the Overworld’s factions together. The Overworld will be unable to protect their homes from the Nether’s army of Pigmin if they do not unite in time.

The new project, Minecraft Legends, introduced during the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase in June 2022, so it’s still in its early stages. The release date for Minecraft Legends not fixed in stone. Release date rumours for Minecraft Legends
Minecraft Legends will released on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch in 2023. Sarah Bond, head of Xbox creator experience. Announced at the start of the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase that every game displayed would released within the next 12 months. It’s safe to assume that Minecraft Legends will released in June 2023.

Minecraft Legends is likely to be unlike any other RTS game you’ve ever played. Here’s what Mojang has to say about Minecraft Legends’ gameplay:

“At its core, it’s a strategy game, but its mechanics influenced by action games’ immersion. In a third-person perspective, you can explore the Overworld, which is both familiar and new in many ways. To stop the spread of piglin corruption, you’ll defend peaceful settlements and fight hordes of piglins. You’re at the heart of every battle you command, fighting alongside your allies while giving orders.”
Direct control mechanics have previously seen in RTS games, most notably in the classic Majesty series. The player would have direct control over their avatar’s actions and motions. With ‘guided’ or ‘directed’ features telling NPC teammates what to do. Based on what we’ve seen so far, this is most likely only going to apply to battle.
According to Mojang, the player will explore diverse biomes in order to gather materials. Which will subsequently used to construct bases. The clip shows the user planting a banner to inspire teammates to move, but it also shows two little fairies deconstructing the landscape. Most likely for resource harvesting and building.
There are competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes in Minecraft Legends, but no further details are available. There hasn’t been any mention of crossplay, though we’d expect it at the very least from PC to Xbox.
