Best Weapons To Upgrade In Resident Evil 2. Leon and Claire are armed with several strong weaponry in Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake, some of which must be upgraded right away.
Resident Evil 2, a successful recreation of Capcom’s famed 1998 horror classic, let fans of the franchise fall in love with the game all over again in 2019. RE 2 provided new mechanics and thrills for both returning and newcomers to the franchise, while maintaining the same narrative tale and location.
Because guns are the only thing that will keep Leon and Claire safe from the hungry zombies and bio mutants, gamers will need to collect and improve the greatest guns they can if they are to survive Raccoon City. Both main characters have individual campaigns, and Leon and Claire have their own arsenal of weapons that are specific to their plot.

W-870 Shotgun (Leon)
The W-870 shotgun is a four-round shotgun that deals a lot of damage to zombies and advanced bio-mutants like Lictors. The shotgun is a must-have for any player selecting for Leon’s playthrough. Capable of blasting the head off any zombie, the weaponry is particularly handy in close range and tight environments.
The gun is kept in a Safety Deposit Room on the first floor of the west side of the police station, but it requires a keycard to access. On the east side of the building, the keycard (Weapon Locker Card) can be located in the 2nd Floor Art Room. Once players swipe the keycard and gain admission, the W-870 will be behind a locked grate. The shotgun should be upgraded with the following items:
- Long Barrel: This upgrade may be obtained at Kendo’s Gun Shop when players proceed towards the sewers with Ada Wong. The update raises the clip size to eight rounds and enhances the power.
- Stock: Treatment Pool Room within a safe, located in the Upper Sewers. On the right side of the safe is the combination code. It’s now easier to shoot faster thanks to the improvement.
Lightning Hawk (Leon)
The Lightning Hawk is a 7-round magnum that’s ideal for firing off rounds against the undead. It’s also one of Leon’s most powerful weapons. The gun is powerful against boss enemy types and destroys common zombies.
Players must locate and study a S.T.A.R.S Badge in order to obtain the pistol. It can then be used to gain access to the S.T.A.R.S. Office on the police station’s second level. A back-and-forth puzzle ensues, culminating in the player obtaining the Lightning Hawk in the armoury. These enhancements bring out the most in what is already a fantastic weapon:
- Long Barrel is a weapon that may be found in the Underground Facility. Down the stairs, there is a glass case where gamers can place their USB badge to receive this upgrade. The Long Barrel boosts overall damage while lowering recoil.
- Red Dot Sight: Players must locate the Hiding Place Film Roll in the Upper Sewers’ Workroom. The Darkroom can be accessed from the sewers via the Underground via a T-Bar crank. Players can return to the S.T.A.R.S. Office and check the drawer behind the desk once the film has been developed. Players can aim fast with the Red Dot.
JMB Hp3 (Claire)
Claire’s story revolves around the JMB Hp3, a 15-shot handgun. The weapon is more reliable than Claire’s initial SLS 60 pistol. The pistol also has a laser sight, which lets players know when it’s time to get down to business, especially if they’re on an S-Rank run.
By checking for the worn key in the box at the Firing Range on level B1 of the Parking Garage, you can find the gun. At get to the gun, players must first open the police car boot in the main parking area. The following items can be added to the pistol:
- High Capacity Magazine: The update, which is kept in a safe in the police station’s Waiting Room on the second floor, increases the clip size capacity to 26 rounds per magazine.
GM79 Grenade Launcher (Claire)
The GM79 is Claire’s signature weapon, much like the shotgun is for Leon. The launcher has three different types of damage (explosive, fire, and acidic), making it a versatile weapon against anyone, including Mr. X. This weapon’s ammo, on the other hand, can be scarce.
The launcher may be discovered in a similar manner as Leon, in that the player must first obtain the weapon card key from the 2nd Floor Art Room before proceeding to the Safety Deposit Room. After players swipe the keycard, the GM79 will be behind a locked grate. The following upgrade is included with the weapon:
- Shoulder Stock is a character who lives in a locker next to Chief Iron’s office on level B1. The update can be obtained through the parking garage. The improvement improves the trajectory of each shot.
