Killers such as the Shape, the Ghost Face, the Pig, and the Wraith have distinct playstyles in Dead by Daylight, relying on their ability to withhold information from Survivors and creep up on them, setting themselves properly before striking at the perfect moment. Though not as powerful as mobility Counter Stealth Killers In Dead By Daylight. Killers like the Nurse, Blight, or Spirit, stealth Killers present a unique challenge that some Survivors struggle to overcome. Here are some strategies for surviving those sneaky beasts.
Keep an open mind
Keeping one’s eyes and ears alert is the single most critical thing a Survivor can do to combat stealth Killers. As long as the player knows what to look for, Dead by Daylight is full with sights. And sounds that give away the approach of even the most stealthy individuals.
A basic but important approach is to rotate the camera around one’s avatar to assess the surroundings. It’s not enough to only glance ahead. The Survivor must also be aware of what’s happening on behind and beside them. When travelling the world, this is crucial. But it much more so when you caught in an animation like unlocking the exit gates, purifying a totem. Or performing a generator. Generators are frequently where Survivors are most vulnerable. When it comes to dealing with stealth Killers, one Survivor perk stands out above the rest: Spine Chill. Spine Chill activated if the Killer is within 36 meters of the Survivor and looking in their direction.

- Action speeds increased by 6% in mending, healing, sabotaging, unhooking, vaulting, cleansing, opening, and unlocking.
The Perk’s Icon Lights Up
The action of actions bonus is useful and can come in handy in some situations. But Spine Chill has a much more basic purpose when it comes to dealing with stealth Killers. When the Killer looks at the Survivor, the perk’s icon appears on the HUD. Which serves as a great early-warning mechanism against Killers who would otherwise go undetected by the Survivors.
Stalking Killers like the Ghost Face. And the Shape won’t be able to stalk the survivor without warning them because to Spine Chill. But beware: savvy Killers can mislead Spine Chill by tilting their camera as they approach. Keeping the Survivor at the edge of their screen and so preventing Spine Chill from activating.

Predict And Track The Killer’s Every Move
When Survivors have no idea where they are, Stealth Killers are at their most effective. By wounding and downing unsuspecting Survivors, forcing Survivors away from goals. And keeping the squad more focused on survival and avoidance than finishing generators, they can generate map pressure.
Stealth counterplay requires anticipating and observing the Killer’s movements. It’s crucial to keep an eye on the HUD to see if another Survivor is pursuing you. And to keep track of a Killer last known location once another Survivor downed or hooked. There are several perks that can reveal the Killer’s aura, and while each has its own set of advantages. And disadvantages, it’s worth considering including some of them in one’s build.
Stealth Killers are notorious for using unconventional pathing and angles of attack to sneak up on Survivors. Such as sneaking along the map’s perimeter or taking the long way around objects. Survivors can minimize the Killer’s ability to sneak up on them by knowing the Killer’s last known position. And paying attention to the patterns of their movement up to that point in the Trial.
Understand the Killer’s Flaws
Because of perks like Tinkerer, any Killer can become undetectable for a brief period of time. But certain Killers have full powers based on stealth. The Wraith, the Ghost Face, the Shape, and the Pig are some of the most prevalent stealth Killers. And it’s important learning at least some basic counters for each.
- By ringing his bell, the Wraith becomes invisible, although his invisibility is only total when he is standing still. When he moves, he emits a distinctive shimmer. To stay alive, he must uncloak in order to strike, therefore run at the first sign.
- The Ghost Face: pursues Survivors in order to build up individual stalk-meters before Exposing them and insta-killing them. Be aware of the Ghost Face’s ability to crouch and peer around corners. And glance at him to push him out of his control.
- The Shape: hunts Survivors in order to increase his power, becoming faster and more lethal as a result. Break line of sight as much as possible to prevent him from stalking. Especially early in the game when he is slow and weak.
- While crouching, the Pig becomes undetectable and can then launch a powerful lunge. Crouching slows the Pig down significantly, thus most Pigs will only crouch when they think they’re nearing a Survivor. Take advantage of the situation.
