How To Change Username In Minecraft 2022. If you’re anything like me, you probably began playing the game when you were quite young. Years later, you may be looking at your Minecraft username and wondering, “What on Earth was I thinking?”
We should change our Minecraft username to something more appropriate now that we are older and wiser.
Concerning Minecraft Usernames
When you play in multiplayer worlds, your Minecraft username is the name of your profile that everyone sees. You’ve most likely used usernames to assist in Whitelisting people on servers or Realms.
You may have also used usernames when running commands to target a specific player.
Mojang has never been too strict about moderating their players’ usernames. Since the game’s release, you’ve been able to create inappropriate or downright bad usernames with no problem.
When you start playing with other people, problems arise. Using an inappropriate username may result in you being banned or blacklisted from servers with no-profanity policies.
Furthermore, if your name is difficult to write, it makes writing commands difficult.
Even if none of this is true, sometimes old usernames are just that. We want to go by something more current and comfortable.
Changing your Minecraft username is completely free, but you can only do it once every 30 days.

Minecraft Username Change
Change your username directly on the Mojang website at www.minecraft.net/en-us/profile. You will be able to log in using either your old Mojang account or a Microsoft account.
Because Microsoft accounts are the current default accounts for Minecraft, you may need to update once you log in if you still have a Mojang profile.
After logging in, go to the “My Games” tab and search for Java Edition Minecraft.
You can change your skin or profile name by clicking on the tab. Simply enter your new username and make sure you meet the requirements:
- 3 to 16 characters
- There are no spaces between A-Z characters.
- 0-9 digits (optional)
- There are no symbols other than . (used instead of a space)
- There’s a chance the website will ask you to retype your password just to make sure it’s you.
After changing your username, simply open the launcher and log in with the new name! Your e-mail address and password will remain unchanged.
When you play, the new username will be displayed on the Launcher as well as in-game. Just keep in mind that if you don’t like your new name, you’ll have to live with it for 30 days.
