Blood On The Ice Won’t Start In Skyrim

Blood On The Ice Won’t Start In Skyrim. For a multitude of reasons, Blood on the Ice is one of Skyrim’s most well-known quests. The quest’s name is unique enough on its own, standing out among the quest journal’s slew of uninspired titles. While Oblivion’s Murder Mystery Mansion is well-known, Skyrim allows players to investigate a serial killer and play as a crime scene detective.

Blood on the Ice is, in many respects, the perfect example of what Skyrim missions could be like. It allows the player to lead the mission rather than the quest directing the player, and it eventually compels them to make difficult decisions based on their own research. It’s a mission that every Skyrim player should undertake, and it’s mercifully simple to begin.

Erik Petrovich updated this page on June 4, 2022: One of Skyrim’s most well-known quests is Blood on the Ice. This quest, set in Windhelm, puts players in the shoes of a detective seeking to figure out who is responsible for a string of gruesome killings. Thanks to the minor narrative nuggets revealed along the road, it’s one of Skyrim’s coolest storylines, if not one of the coolest quests in all of the Elder Scrolls games. It’s worth noting that some players are having trouble getting Blood on the Ice to start. The section on how to start Blood on the Ice has updated to provide some workaround repair recommendations. Albeit this bug may be irreversible in some circumstances.

Players will find a guard standing alongside a woman’s corpse in the city’s graveyard, just left of the front gate down an alley, as they enter Windhelm at night. The Dragonborn determined that the deceased isn’t wearing clothes after questioning bystanders. Yet the woman’s wealth and jewellery were left behind. Helgird claims the wounds on the woman’s body were made with embalming equipment after inspecting the body in the Windhelm Hall of the Dead. Helgird says it wasn’t her, so the Dragonborn flees, only to discover a trail of blood heading to the Hjerim manor.

Tova, the dead woman’s mother, offers the player the key to the manor. Inside, the Dragonborn entrusted with examining the crime scene. Where they discover a Strange Amulet amid the writings of someone named The Butcher, who is almost certainly the killer. Following this revelation, a guy named Wuunferth blamed for the crimes. And the quest can theoretically completed. The killer strikes again after a few days, forcing players to solve the riddle once and for all.

Blood on the Ice does not always start in Skyrim. It recommended to turn off any mods you’re using in these situations. Attempt previous saves and autosaves, or, if all else fails. Use the console to force the quest to begin.

Windhelm can be reached by foot, carriage, or boat.

Walking, using a carriage, or taking a boat are the three options for getting to Windhelm. Windhelm is in Eastmarch, far east of Skyrim, so head northeast from Whiterun across the mountain pass if you like the picturesque approach. Alternatively, a Carriage may whisk you away from any large metropolis in an instant. This frozen port city can also reached by boat, departing from either the Solitude Docks or the Dawnstar Docks. It can also be accessible by returning to Solstheim by boat, but you must first travel to Windhelm to reach the island.

Depending on the decisions made during Blood on the Ice, the player can earn a variety of special gifts. The Player Home Hjerim becomes available for purchase from Jorleif if the player chooses not to arrest Wuunferth. Calixto’s body will also contain the Necromancer’s Amulet if the player previously sold him the Strange Amulet. Players can enter Calixto’s residence with a key found on his body, which contains a chest and many other things that all but prove his status as The Butcher.
