How To Nickname Pokemon In BDSP

How To Nickname Pokemon In BDSP.Trainers in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl need go to the Name Rater to rename their Pokemon. Here’s where to look for him.

Since the days of Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow, nicknaming Pokemon has been a mainstay. Some players take advantage of this, whether for legitimate aliases or to enter something offensive (pre-Generation 5). Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, like prior games, enable players to change their Pokemon’s name after they captured.

A Name Rater is a character who “rates the names of trainers’ Pokemon” in each Pokemon game. There is just one Name Rater per game, with the exception of Generation 8. Those who have played Pokemon Diamond/Pearl may aware of where the Name Rater may found in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

In the BDSP, a name rater assigned to a certain location

Trainers will be able to visit the Name Rater once they have been through Eterna Forest. He resides in a house in Eterna City, where the game is still in its early stages. If this is your first visit to Eterna City, make sure to battle the Gym Leader.

  • Head south down the road from the Pokemon Center.
  • The Bicycle Shop should be on the right. Trainers will be unable to obtain the bicycle until they possess the second Gym Badge. So, when you’ve defeated Gardenia, come back here.
  • Continue past the Bicycle Shop and continue south. The PokeMart should be to the right.
  • Go to the right of the Pokemart and enter the big building. An elderly gentleman seated at a table to the left. The Name Rater is who you’re looking for.

The Pokemon’s name can changed as long as it has the same ID as the trainer. This means the gamer must catch/hatch the Pokemon in their own copy of the game. Because the player is acquiring this Eevee in their version of Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl, the Eevee that players can receive from Bebe after fighting the Elite Four may have its name modified. A traded Eevee from another player’s Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl, on the other hand, will have a unique ID. The Name Rater will be unable to change its name as a result of this.

Similarly, any Pokemon traded in-game with an NPC (such as Mindy in Snowpoint City) will have a different ID than the player, making it impossible for the Name Rater to change its name.

Trainers may rename exchanged Pokemon in Sword/Shield, but it does appear that feature was carried over to Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Changing your name is completely free and does not require any Pokemon Dollars. Players can alter the names of their Pokemon whenever they want as long as they remember where the Name Rater is.

NPCs with Pokemon Nicknames

While some trainers may be hesitant to trade with in-game NPCs, it may be worthwhile – especially early in the game. Traded Pokemon gain double EXP in combat, which might be useful for those just starting out as long as the Pokemon’s level does not surpass the gym badge bonuses.

These Pokemon, unfortunately, cannot renamed. So, if players don’t like the Trade Pokemon’s in-game nickname, they’re out of luck.

Foppa is a one-of-a-kind case in that she will register Magikarp’s German Pokedex entry if she received.

In the remakes of Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, there are Pokemon Contests – Super Contests, much like in Diamond/Pearl. Each of the other contenders’ Pokemon given a nickname. Players will not be able to receive any of the contestants’ Pokemon, unlike in-game swaps.

It not required to give a Pokemon a nickname before entering it in a Super Contest. Having a nickname has no bearing on a Pokemon’s score.

Players will allowed to compete against high-ranking contestants once they have completed the game. In fact, there are a few familiar faces among the contestants. The Master Rank players are more difficult to beat and have stronger moves to appeal to the judges.

It’s unclear whether Fantina’s Drifblim used in competitions is the same one she uses to fight challengers at Hearthome City Gym. Despite her Drifblim having the nickname “Loony” in Master Ranks and named “Drifblim” in battle, it highly plausible.

On Nintendo Switch, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl are now available.
