How To Hatch Eggs Faster In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond Shining Pear. Trainers in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl will occasionally obtain a Pokemon Egg along their adventure. It’s possible that this came from a Hiker NPC in Hearthome City or Riley on Iron Island. There are, however, other ways to obtain Pokemon Eggs, such as breeding Pokemon at the Pokemon Daycare. Certain Pokemon, like Riolu, can only be gotten through Eggs, therefore using the Daycare to help fill out the Pokedex is a good idea.
There’s a chance that leaving a female and male Pokemon of a compatible species at the Daycare centre will result in a Pokemon Egg. Hatching Eggs in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is similar to previous core Pokemon games, with the exception that various methods can speed up the process.
Renri Seong updated this page on February 28, 2022: Getting and hatching Eggs is a favourite method of obtaining several Pokemon without having to go out and find them in the wild. In addition, some Pokemon, such as Riolu, may only be obtained through Eggs in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. To receive an Egg, players must first leave appropriate Pokemon at the Nursery and then speak with the Nursery Man outside. While there is just one way to hatch eggs in BDSP, there is a technique to make the process go faster. More information regarding Egg Cycles and Egg Moves has been added to the following guide.

The Normal Method of Hatching Pokemon Eggs
Pokemon Eggs usually hatch when a particular number of steps have been done in the game. Pichu, for example, takes 2560 steps to hatch, but Piplup, a beginning Pokemon, requires 5120 steps. Trainers cannot place Eggs in an incubator, unlike in Pokemon GO, and must have at least one seat open in their team. As a result, having a long road to walk/bike up and down is the ideal approach to hatch Eggs.
If trainers are still not obtaining any Eggs after leaving Pokemon at the Daycare, they should consider swapping one of the Pokemon with a Ditto. Breeding Pokemon with multiple Trainer IDs is a faster approach to improve Egg output at a Daycare. The Oval Charm, which may be obtained after defeating the Elite Four, is a third alternative.
Hatching Pokemon Eggs with Modifiers
Pokemon always have a variety of abilities. Both in and out of battle, these Abilities have an impact. Flame Body, for example, can occasionally cause Burn if the Attacker comes into contact with it. Outside of battle, this Ability is useful for hatching Pokemon eggs.
Magmar, Magmortar, Slugma, Magcargo, Ponyta, Rapidash, and Camerupt all have the Flame Body ability in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Flame Body is a Hidden Ability for Ponyta, Rapidash, and Camerupt, so keep that in mind. Meanwhile, Magmar/Magmortar and Slugma/Magcargo have Flame Body as a natural ability (or second Ability).
Have the Flame Body-Pokemon in the party with the Egg if you want to use Flame Body outside of battle. This will “incubate” the Egg, reducing the amount of steps required to hatch it. The Ability will keep work even if the Pokemon with Flame Body faints.

Those who aren’t in a hurry to hatch Pokemon Eggs can do so in the traditional manner. This method should be tried by anyone who wants to go on a Shiny Hunt and fill their entire squad with Pokemon Eggs.
Finally, Cycling Road is a wonderful site to hatch in Sinnoh. Between Eterna City and Route 207, there is a long bridge that spans Route 206. It’s best to fight all of the trainers ahead of time so they don’t get in the way of the trainer travelling from one end of the bridge to the other.
Checking Egg Cycles in BDSP
It’s difficult to say how many steps it takes for an Egg to hatch because each Pokemon’s Egg Cycle is different. By going into their Party and reading the Egg’s Summary, players can verify the Egg Cycle. Look on the “The Egg Watch” section of the second tab.
An Egg Cycle has 257 steps in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. Trainers will have to walk anywhere from 11 to 40 Egg Cycles to get a newly received Pokemon Egg. While “The Egg Watch” estimates how close the Egg is to hatching, it does not, regrettably, show the precise number of Egg Cycles the Egg has left.
The Egg Watch Message | How many Egg Cycles left? |
---|---|
It looks as though this Egg will take a long time yet to hatch. | 41-120 |
What Pokémon will hatch from this Egg? It doesn’t seem close to hatching. | 11-40 |
It appears to move occasionally. It may be close to hatching. | 6-10 |
Sounds can be heard coming from inside! This Egg will hatch soon! | 1-5 |
Dialga and Palkia, for example, have a 120-day egg cycle. This translates to 30720 steps for them to hatch. While Dialga and Palkia Eggs aren’t available in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, they were given an Egg Cycle as part of the Arceus event in Heart Gold & Soul Silver. Magikarp, with an Egg Cycle of 5 and 1280 steps, is the Pokemon with the shortest Egg Cycle.
Egg Moves
Every Pokemon belongs to one or both of the Egg Groups. They can breed with each other as long as the two parent Pokemon have the same Egg Group. This means that even odd pairs of Pokemon can have children. Muk and Gardevoir are both members of the Amorphous Group. As a result, depending on the parent, Muk and Gardevoir can breed to produce a Grimer or Ralts Egg. If the Gardevoir is female, the children will be Ralts; if the Muk is female, the children will be Grimer.
A Pokemon may know a move that it cannot learn through levels or TM, especially in competitive play. This is most certainly an Egg Move, as only the male parent can pass it down. Cynthia’s Milotic, for example, knows the move Mirror Coat, which Milotic is unable to learn. Corsola, who is in the same Egg Group as Milotic, can learn Mirror Coat. Feebas will inherit the Egg Move if a male Corsola is bred with a female Milotic or Feebas.
