What Is The Odd Keystone In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, here’s everything you need to know about the Odd Keystone.
In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, not all Pokemon can be caught in the wild. To spawn a Pokemon, users may be required to purchase and utilise an item at particular locations. Trainers can catch the rare Ghost/Dark-type Spiritomb in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, just like they can in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, if they look in the correct spot. They’ll need the Odd Keystone to get Spiritomb.
The Odd Keystone is a common item found in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl in three separate locations. After completing a few prerequisites, players can summon Spiritomb using the Odd Keystone in the Hallowed Tower and battle/catch it. Players can cultivate more than one Odd Keystone in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, unlike the original games, although it will take some time.
Russ Boswell updated this page on February 15, 2022: Many players have moved on to Pokemon Legends: Arceus, but it doesn’t rule out the possibility that some are still playing Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. There is a lot to see and do in the remake, especially owing to the Grand Underground, because there is so much content to go through. The Odd Keystone is something that a lot of gamers have trouble with. These weird markings appear to have no purpose, yet in BDSP, the Odd Keystone is used to obtain a strange Pokemon. The following tutorial has been revised to better assist users in finding and using the Odd Keystones in BDSP.

Odd Keystone Locations
Speaking with an NPC on Route 208 outside of Hearthome City is the quickest way to obtain the Odd Keystone. This individual can be discovered in the bottom right corner of a Honey Tree, obscured by some trees. He’ll hand out an Odd Keystone and advise the player to proceed to Route 209 and “listen to the stone pillar.” Route 209 is located on the opposite side of Hearthome City, just before the entrance to Solaceon Town.

Once players have earned their fifth gym badge, they can obtain the second Odd Keystone. Players must also have HM Surf and be able to use it in non-battle situations. First, go to Cynthia’s grandma in Celestic Town and obtain HM Surf. Then go to the Hearthome City Gym and fight Fantina. After you’ve completed all of this, fly to Twinleaf Town with HM Fly. A body of water can found near the bottom of the town. Use HM Surf to travel to the lake’s bottom left corner and investigate the tree on the left. This is the game’s second Odd Keystone.
Finally, mining can used to obtain an Odd Keystone in the Grand Underground. This isn’t a surefire technique to earn the Odd Keystone, and it could take a while. This is the only way to gain more than two Odd Keystones in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl if players have already gathered the Odd Keystones from Route 208 and Twinleaf Town.
Making Use Of The Odd Keystone
Interact with the decaying tower on Route 209’s far right side. The Hallowed Tower is not to confused with the Lost Tower; it can be located along the river.
Players must converse with 32 NPCs in the Grand Underground in order to employ the Odd Keystone. The message at the Hallowed Tower will change every time the player interacts with an NPC or reaches a milestone. Players will receive the following message after speaking with 29-31 NPCs: “There is some type of presence… It appears ready to emerge!”
Trainers must also have many Keystones in order to obtain more than one Spiritomb. Unfortunately, speaking with an additional 32 NPCs (per Odd Keystone) will required to initiate Spiritomb’s encounter.
The Best Build of Spiritomb
Spiritomb is unquestionably one of the oddest Pokemon, despite its attractive appearance. This Ghost and Dark-type appears to be quite intimidating, yet it actually has midling stats and a little HP pool. Spiritomb, on the other hand, may be a surprisingly capable defender when using skills like Pursuit and Sucker Punch. A “Pursuit Trapper” build recommended for those who wish to take their Pokemon into a competitive Pokemon battle and want something a little more offensive.
Players must find an Adamant or Brave Spiritomb and teach it the following moves to create this build:
- Will-O-Wisp
- Foul Play
- Pursuit
- Sucker Punch
Spiritomb will be able to use this setup to effectively capture weaker Ghost and Psychic-types, punishing and knocking them out before they can run. These four moves will provide Spiritomb with excellent type coverage against a wide range of opponents, and while it has a low HP, it does have some solid defensive attributes that should provide it some survivability (especially against foes that it resists thanks to its dual typing).
Because Spiritomb can trap opponents with Pursuit, some gamers choose to utilise it as a “revenge killer” style attacker. When faced with a comparable type, many Ghost and Psychic-type Pokemon would escape and change out, offering players a fantastic opening with Pursuit. If an opponent switches out because they don’t want to fight Spiritomb, they will hit twice as severely (potentially knocking them out immediately depending on the type advantage).
Spiritomb’s Stats
- Attack: 92
- Special Attack: 92
- Defense: 108
- Special Defense: 108
- HP: 50
- Speed: 35
Although Spiritomb has some potential as a trapper or a middle defender (due to Calm Mind, Rest, and Sleep Talk), it has a low HP stat and slow speed. Players will find it difficult to maintain Spiritomb in the fight against heavy hitters, who will have little issue whittling away at its low HP with forceful strikes, even if they have a high defence and special defence. Although its Pressure ability causes opponents to waste more PP during combat, Spiritomb is unlikely to stay long enough for this ability to be useful.
Instead, players should use the Pokemon as a fast revenge killer or a small defensive unit capable of stalling for a limited length of time.
On Nintendo Switch, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl are now available.
