Players will gain more and more side mission possibilities as they go through Dying Light 2. The main storey is only one aspect of this sprawling Techland title, and every time Aiden turns on a Windmill, he’ll greeted with a slew of NPCs that may require his assistance. Some of these sidequests are simple to complete, while others are plain perplexing.
The First Biomarker, a sidequest that involves Aiden breaking into a safe to obtain medical equipment for a gruff survivor named McGregor, is a nice example that players may experience early on. Finding this safe and decoding the code to open it can be difficult for some people. In Dying Light 2, here’s how to get to Dr. Katsumi’s office and collect the old biomarker.

The First Biomarker Sidequest: Finding McGregor and Getting Started
Players must first locate McGregor and begin the necessary sidequest in order to find the safe in Dr. Katsumi’s office and obtain the first biomarker. Players will need to read a specific note from the NPC in order to obtain the code for the safe, therefore the first stage is to go through the main tale until McGregor appears.
It’s worth noting that players won’t be able to access this sidequest until they’ve completed the third major plot quest, which involves them infiltrating a Metro on Hakon’s behalf. After completing the objective, players can travel to a rooftop near the intersection of the Trinity and Houndfield zones in the northern area of the map. McGregor will be standing outside a room housing a Trader when they arrive. Players will sent into The First Biomarker sidequest if they talk to him and choose the yellow response. McGregor will now direct Aiden to the Saint Joseph Hospital (the same one he was touring with Hakon earlier) and hand him a message from Dr. Katsumi containing a secure code.

Finding The Hospital Safe In Dying Light 2
The Saint Joseph Hospital should already be on the map because the introductory tutorial takes players through the region. A stairway on one side of the building leads to a small rooftop, which players can reach by running up a small ramp and jumping to a section of exposed wall.
They can then leap to the ladder and ascend to the roof. Aiden can then climb the surrounding yellow fins and leap back into the open office window across from them to get entry to Dr. Katsumi’s office. Players will be able to enter the safe once inside, but they must first decipher the code.
Deciphering Dr. Katsumi’s Note And Getting The Safe Code
Players must go to the inventory menu and pick the Collectibles tab at the top of the screen to see Dr. Katsumi’s note. There is a note from McGregor that players received at the start of the mission somewhere in there. The note has three unique riddles, each of which will provide players with a single number for the 3-digit safe combination. The following are the three riddles and their solutions:
- “When you turn something upside down, it shrinks.” —— (A 9 turns into a 6 when flipped upside down).
- “Take a letter away from an odd number, and it becomes even.” — No. 7 (The number Seven is odd and when the S removed from its name it turns into Even)
- “A small child goes to the grocery and purchases a dozen eggs. All but three eggs break as she walks home. How many eggs haven’t cracked yet?” 3 — (According to the riddle, all but three eggs have broken, leaving only three eggs.)
To open the safe, players simply dial the number 973 on the dial.
They can then return to McGregor to finish the sidequest, for which they will rewarded with a single Inhibitor.
