How To Get Greater Crest Of Flame In God Of War. One of God of War’s most important resources is the Greater Crest of Flame (2018). Some of the best armour in the game, such as the Gauntlets of the Valkyrie or the Muspelheim’s Eye of Power enchantment for the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages, require it to build and upgrade.
The difficulty of obtaining and farming the Greater Crest of Flame adds to its value. It’s only available in Muspelheim, which is a place of terrible combat challenges in God of War that puts Kratos’ abilities to the test. The Greater Crest of Flame can be found within, but it is not for the faint of heart.

Unlock The Way To The Realm Of Muspelheim
The Greater Crest of Flame can only be found in Muspelheim’s burning domain. Kratos and Atreus must already have entry to the realm of Bifrost through the Bifrost Bridge in order to gain the Greater Crest of Flame. To gain entry, you must have gathered all of the Muspelheim Ciphers scattered throughout Midgard and Alfheim.
Muspelheim Ciphers can be found all throughout the world, but only four are required to access the realm. Muspelheim Ciphers can be found at the following locations:
- Inthe Forgotten Caverns in the northwest of the Lake of the Nine
- On the Cliffs of the Raven on the northeast of the Lake of the Nine
- Below the Vanahaim Tower on the way to the Foothills and the Mountain
- On the way back down the Mountain after acquiring Mimir
- In the Witch’s Cave past the half-eaten statue of Thor
- In Alfheim behind a gate initially blocked by roots during Kratos’ first encounter with the Dark Elves
After acquiring four, Kratos and Atreus will be able to use the Bifrost to go to Muspelheim.
Train Up Both Yourself And Kratos
Muspelheim’s tasks are not easy, as previously stated. It is not suggested that you test them out until you are well into the game and have a good understanding of God of War’s fighting. Kratos should have the Blades of Chaos at the very least before attempting the Muspelheim Trials.
Of course, improving the quality of Kratos and Atreus’ gear is beneficial as well. Before embarking on the Muspelheim Trials, make sure Kratos and Atreus have good armour, talismans, skill, and weapon upgrades.
Clear The Normal And Hard Variants Of The First Five Muspelheim Trials
The true Muspelheim Trials will follow. There are six trials in total, with the first five having normal, hard, and impossible varieties. After clearing the normal and hard forms of the first five trials, the impossible versions of each trial will be unlocked.
Because entry to the impossible trials is the most dependable way to farm Greater Crests of Flame, clearing the normal and hard versions of the first five trials is a necessary difficulty.
Defeat The Valkyrie Gondul At The Summit Of The Mountain
The sixth challenge is to defeat the renegade Valkyrie Gondul at the Muspelheim Trials mountain’s summit. Gondul’s defeat, like the rest of the Valkyrie boss fights, is no easy task. This is the final Muspelhiem Trial for a cause (sort of).
Keep an eye out for Gondul’s attack patterns, look for opportunities, and try to avoid taking any damage. For all Valkyrie boss fights, this is the greatest advice available. Beating her is also required to unlock the impossible trials, thus this is still more obstacle to overcome.
Determine Which Of The Impossible Challenges Are The Easiest For You
After that, Kratos and, by extension, you will be able to participate in the impossible Muspelheim Trials. They are more tougher versions of the first five Muspelheim Trials, as their name implies. You don’t have to complete all of them; just replay the ones that are easiest for you. Kratos can earn a Greater Crest of Flame by completing these Trials.

These trials, however, instead of being pass/fail, rank Kratos on a bronze, silver, or gold scale based on how well he performs. When attempting to obtain a Greater Crest of Flame, obtaining a rank of at least silver appears to be a reliable score.
When you take on Surtur’s Hidden Trials, you’ll find three different trial versions. Unfortunately, after clearing one Hidden Trial, you’ll have to go back and retrieve the keys to play another.
Farm Until You Have All The Greater Crest Of Flames That You Need
It takes a long time to collect enough Greater Crests of Flame to properly improve Kratos’ gear. To get them, you’ll need a lot of patience and a lot of time. While they are required to unlock some of the game’s best armour and gear upgrades, Kratos will not require the best gear to complete the storey.
