Total War Warhammer: How To Get Free DLC. Total War: Warhammer is a massive game, which is impressive given that the series only has two games. Over the years, the games have received a slew of DLC releases, and the best part is that you can add whatever you can play in the first game to the second.
However, finding out how everything works and how the games connect might be a little perplexing. With the approaching release of Total War: Warhammer 3 and the inevitable DLCs that come with it, things will only get more complicated.

What Does Total War Warhammer DLC Add?
DLC for Total War Warhammer games is divided into two categories:
- Paid packs that add new playable races, factions, and legendary lords to the game.
- Smaller, free packs that add new legendary lords, heroes, units, and less often, races or factions.
These frequently correlate with updates that add new content to the game, but you can only play as the new additions if you buy the packs separately. This implies that new legendary lords, units, and other items may appear in campaign and multiplayer games, but you must purchase or download the DLC to use them.

However, there are some exceptions to this rule
- There are two graphics effects packs, one for each game, that add blood and gore. “Blood for the Blood God” is the name of both of them. If you own the first game’s version, you get the second game’s version for free.
- Some of the free DLC packs for the second game include new multiplayer maps and the Ogre Mercenaries function, among other things.
- Only if you own both games will you be able to play the Mortal Empires campaign.
Some DLC isn’t available on Steam. These can only be obtained through the Total War Access programme, which entails linking a Total War account to your Steam account and then redeeming the things from your dashboard. These are the DLCs:
- 30th Birthday Regiments of Renown for Total War: Warhammer
- Gotrek and Felix for Total War: Warhammer 2
- Catchweb Spidershrine for Total War: Warhammer 2
- Glade Captain for Total War: Warhammer 2
- Rakarth for Total War: Warhammer 2
- Great Bray-Shaman for Total War: Warhammer 2
- Ogre Mercenaries for Total War: Warhammer 2
Cross-Game Compatibility
One of the best things about this series is that owning both games has advantages. The main advantage is that you can download the Mortal Empires campaign for free, which combines all of the races, factions, and lords from the first game with the second. It’s the most effective technique to get the most out of the games.
Every DLC released thus far, including those for the previous game, is compatible with Mortal Empires. If you purchase “Realm of the Wood Elves,” a DLC for the original game, you will be able to play as the Wood Elves in Total War: Warhammer 2.
This practise will be continued in the future, with another massive campaign planned as a free download for those who possess all three games once the third is published.
