How To Defeat Bassus Boss In Halo Infinite.Bassus is a difficult boss to take out quickly in Halo Infinite if players don’t employ the appropriate strategy or weaponry.
Bassus is the boss of Halo Infinite’s Excavation Site quest, and he is one of the game’s most difficult confrontations. If players are on Heroic or Legendary and haven’t improved their shields or Grappleshot, his devastating hammer can quickly kill Master Chief.
However, there are methods to slow him down, and this Bassus boss guide will detail all of the strategies for killing him as swiftly and easily as possible, as well as how to defeat Bassus in Halo Infinite.
Tips and Tricks to Defeat Bassus Boss in Halo Infinite
The following are the six essential tips and tricks to remember when attempting to defeat Bassus in Halo Infinite’s Excavation Site mission:
- Use a quick-firing Pulse Weapon (ideally the Pulse Carbine) to lower his shields quickly (white bar).
- Equip and use a Needler (or powerful Kinetic Weapon) to lower his health quickly (red bar).
- Make sure to use the Grappleshot a lot to escape his powerful hammer blows.
- Bassus sometimes gets confused if players sidestep left and right on top of one of the ramps—take advantage of this!
- Try and stay away from the yellow coils, as they can kill the Master Chief instantly.
- If Bassus is still too quick to get a shot in, use a Shock Weapon to temporarily stun him.

Pick up a Pulse Carbine Weapon from the nearby rack on the top level if you don’t already have one. Lower Bassus’ shields rapidly using the Pulse Carbine. On Heroic difficulty, one clip should enough.
However, lowering his health will be difficult. Pick up a Needler from the floor if possible. Players can scan the area for one rapidly. Then, using the Grappleshot, alternate between firing at Bassus and withdrawing. In Halo Infinite, if players have any spare Spartan Cores, now is the moment to boost shields and reduce the Grappleshot cooldown.
If players lure Bassus to the bottom of the room, at the end of the two ramps, and then circle back to the top of a ramp, he will become confused. Master Chief will get stuck in a loop of shifting direction for a short period if he sidesteps like he’s going down the ramp and then swiftly steps back up. During this brief period of confusion, arm him with Halo’s famous Needler ammo.
Alternatively, players can momentarily shock Bassus with Shock Weapons before switching back to the Needler or a powerful Kinetic weapon to reduce his health. Bassus’ shields will reappear if his health isn’t reduced quickly enough. To decrease them again, switch back to a Pulse Weapon or change to Plasma Grenades in Halo Infinite.
For PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, Halo Infinite is now available.
