Metroid Dread: How to Defeat the Boss Escue (Boss Fight Guide). This vexing bug is arguably one of Metroid Dread‘s most difficult challenges. Escue can cause a lot of problems with a shield that can negate all damage, very fast and damaging attacks, and a slightly too small boss room. Fortunately, we’ve got your back when it comes to swatting this overgrown fly.
You should come across Escue if you continue down this path.
Escue is divided into two stages. The first phase is extremely lethal and will cause the majority of your problems, whereas the second phase is extremely simple and not worth your time. Escue will occasionally cover its body in electrical energy during phase one. If you see this, stop attacking — your attacks will be ineffective, so concentrate on dodging instead.

Escue will switch between three attacks:
- Rush Attack – Escue will point its stinger at Samus, and then attempt to tackle her. Jump and Phase Shift to avoid.
- Black Orb – Escue will create and throw a black orb at Samus.
- Missile Barrage – Escue will fire rapid darkness missiles at Samus. These are tricky to avoid — you can Phase Shift under the boss, or Space Jump over the projectiles, but you will still probably hit at least one.
Escue will melt away into a massive X Parasite after dealing enough damage; simply jump over it while pelting it with missiles to take it out. After absorbing the X, you will receive the Storm Missiles, which may be the most powerful damage upgrade in the game.
