How To Unlock Hard Mode In Metroid Dread. Metroid Dread is a fantastic game and a treat for series fans who have been waiting an agonising 11 years for a new mainline entry in Nintendo’s iconic side-scrolling adventure. Metroid Dread is a difficult game as well. It’s like, extremely difficult. Even though we stated in our review that “even established Metroidvania fans might be shocked at just how hard Dread can feel in some places,” we did not believe that this difficulty was excessively punishing.
However, not everyone will find Dread difficult, particularly if they are familiar with the Metroidvania genre of games, and some may simply want a greater challenge for their next run after completing their journey. If you want, you can easily increase the level of difficulty in Dread by using its Hard Mode; however, this option isn’t available at the start. Anyone hoping to play Metroid Dread on its most difficult difficulty for the first time is out of luck.

Unlocking the Hard Mode in Metroid Dread isn’t too difficult in and of itself, but it will require some perseverance. To unlock this new difficulty, you must first complete the game on Normal Mode. After the credits have rolled, you will be able to access the mode. This will give you plenty of time to become acquainted with the game’s map and master the combat, which you should take full advantage of — you’ll need all the assistance you can get in Hard Mode.
