The Skywalker Saga Can Add to Canon Like Predecessors In LEGO Star Wars

The Skywalker Saga Can Add to Canon Like Predecessors In LEGO Star Wars:The Skywalker Saga already appears to be a big game, with the potential to add to the canon in its own way. After its most recent delay, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is still nowhere to be found, but that hasn’t dampened the anticipation for the game’s ambition. When it finally hits stores, this will not only be one of the most enormous LEGO games ever, but it also has the potential to be one of the most inventive Star Wars games ever. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker History looks to be one of the most comprehensive collections of Star Wars material ever committed to a video game, with novel gameplay elements and a focus on the whole Star Wars film saga.

The LEGO Star Wars games aren’t known for having a significant impact on the Star Wars canon. They’re best known for letting fans go through the events of each film, with the added fun of Traveller’s Tales’ characteristic humour. Recent LEGO Star Wars games, on the other hand, have strayed from this, leaving their stamp on the Star Wars canon in tiny ways. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has the potential to go much further into this, adding meaningfully to the Star Wars canon to truly cement itself as one of the most important Star Wars games in a long time.

Canon Additions In Past LEGO Star Wars Games

The most current LEGO Star Wars game, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, was the first to add to the canon. The game deviated significantly from what fans have come to anticipate from the LEGO Star Wars franchise by focusing solely on one of the saga’s films. Nonetheless, the game excelled in a few aspects and brought several new LEGO gameplay elements to the LEGO Star Wars brand. Bonus missions that could be unlocked at various stages of completion were one of the new features, and it was here that the LEGO games first made their imprint on the Star Wars canon.

These bonus missions didn’t reveal anything new about The Force Awakens or Star Wars in general, but they did provide an interesting method to fill in the gaps about what transpired before the events of the film began. One of the most memorable missions was Han Solo and Chewbacca capturing the Rathtar beasts from the film. Not only did this provide background for that storey point, but it also helped to broaden the canon by revealing what Han and Chewie were up to before to their appearance in the movie. On paper, it may appear to be a minor point, but many Star Wars fans understand that even little changes to the canon can have a big impact.

Expanding The Star Wars Canon One Brick At A Time

If LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga follows in the footsteps of LEGO The Force Awakens, it will offer even more opportunities to develop new storylines with their own unique influences on the Star Wars universe. It couldn’t make any huge changes to what’s already been established, but there’s plenty of potential to just add to the lore of specific areas of the galaxy. There’s also the possibility of giving characters minor arcs through storylines that may not seem significant in the great scheme of things but nonetheless contribute to why people adore them in the first place.

Players could explore the Jedi Temple on Coruscant alongside a youthful Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker after the events of The Phantom Menace in one possible bonus quest. The plot may involve Obi-Wan giving Anakin a tour of the temple while also encountering a variety of other Jedi in need of assistance. This would not only portray the Jedi Temple in a new light for fans, but it would also illustrate an aspect of Obi-Wan and Anakin’s relationship that hasn’t been explored much in the canon. It wouldn’t be the most important narrative, but it would make LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga a one-of-a-kind repository of information.

Fixing Past Star Wars Mistakes

In terms of the sequel trilogy, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is in a unique position when it comes to expanding the Star Wars canon. It will be the first time The Last Jedi or The Rise of Skywalker has been covered in a LEGO game, and it opens up a lot of options for The Skywalker Saga to correct some of the sequel trilogy’s faults. With its aforementioned bonus missions, LEGO The Force Awakens started doing this, but no one anticipated how convoluted the tale of the sequels would become at the time.

The Skywalker Saga won’t be able to cure all of the second trilogy’s problems, but little changes to the canon could go a long way toward making some of the films more logical. Many fans had a problem with The Rise of Skywalker in especially because of Finn and the hint that he is Force-sensitive. While there was enough evidence throughout the film to conclude that Finn was Force-sensitive, there was never a true reveal or substantial follow-up. Even if The Skywalker Saga only showed Finn employing Force powers in a mission, it would contribute more to the canon than the movie did.

With so much going on in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, it’s difficult to determine whether adding to the Star Wars canon is high on the priority list. Because the game’s numerous delays have become a big source of concern for fans eagerly anticipating the next instalment in the LEGO franchise, Traveller’s Tales may opt to focus on the core films before expanding into the Star Wars universe. That doesn’t rule out the possibility of more storey DLC making LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga an entirely new Star Wars mythology destination. The Skywalker Saga Can Add to Canon Like Predecessors In LEGO Star Wars
