Best Gaming Phones 2021

Throughout the time, telephones have gradually replaced so many of the standalone devices that we used to rely upon. In late 2017, Razer created the waves and in 2018 the Asus ROG branch joined, followed by offers from a Xiaomi-backed Black Sharks and Nubia of ZTE. They have centric gaming characteristics and also sport an esthetic game that can’t suit all users, but even some popular phones can do well for gaming. Right now, what is the best?

Here’s the best gaming phones we’ve considered so far

Asus ROG Phone 3 ZS661KS
128GB 12GB RAM$ 618.38$ 699.99
256GB 12GB RAM$ 679.99$ 799.99
Advantage
  • Backwards compatibility with many of the ROG Phone II accessories.
  • AirTigger 3 ultrasonic touch sensors are very precise and versatile.
  • Rich retail package, including 30W charger and AeroActive 3 cooler.
  • Superb AMOLED screen with HDR10+ (true 10-bit), 144Hz refresh rate.
  • Great battery life, even at full 144Hz. Rich battery health prolonging options.
  • Industry-leading speaker performance, complete with gaming-specific sound tweaks.
  • Fastest-available Snapdragon 865+ chipset, rich performance tweaks. Blazing-fast LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
  • Unrivaled accessory ecosystem.
  • Solid daylight photos, as well as low-light images.
  • Very good video quality, impressive EIS
Disadvantage
  • No water or dust resistance
  • No microSD, no 3.5mm jack
  • Rather basic camera setup, compared to typical 2020 flagships. HDR needs some extra work
  • Expensive

The ROG Phone 3 took all the facts and increased the ROG Phone II. On the surface, the telephone is still very much the same, and with almost the same scale. Asus has managed to keep competitive with the already-leading accessory ecosystem in the ROG Phone II industry. This is a deliberate option.

There’s still no end to the iterative update strategy. The Snapdragon 865+ chipset has been swapped to provide a newest, massive refrigeration solutions alongside a cutting edge fan add-on and unparalleled low-level system performance tuning access for CPU and GPU.The Asus Armoury Crate and Game Genie Combo is the ultimate mobile player’s candy shop that still leads the pack to what’s possible in Android.

A 144 Hz AMOLED Display and a more versatile camera configuration is now available on the ROG Phone 3, now incorporating an improved 64MP Quad Bayer main snapper and a new 5MP macro camera. The ROG division has never prioritized camera provenance, but ROG Phone 3 delivers an extremely powerful entire experience, even with some features, including the stabilized 8K video capture.

As with his predecessors, ROG Phone 3 is also, thanks to its very small compromise ratings, a certain appeal to the gaming enthusiast crowd. Many of its interiors, like the USB 3.1 and the USB 3.1 socket, are designed for speed to name only a few. Everything supported by an immense battery of 6,000 mAh.

On the other side, you must learn how to use all this strong hardware with a 240 grams behemoth on a regular basis. And, considering the immense footprint, compromises including a 3.5mm audio-jack, an FM radio and a Wi-Fi ad are missing as opposed to ROG Phone II (60GHz).

Most of them wanted to fit the new Wi-Fi 6 hardware, including the external modem and antennas. This without jeopardizing the battery power and what are now one of the industry’s finest stereo speakers. Only this time, thanks to Dirac audio, optimized even more for gaming.

Just like the ROG Phone 3 predecessor, it still lacks some mainstream quality extras, such as wireless charging and an entrance protection rate. There are however still items which go beyond what, we assume, is still the yardstick leader in the field of mobile gaming. Both the updates and refinements,Relevant added value to the table included over the ROG Phone II to recommend the newer ROG Phone 3. Furthermore, small stock has already provided its predecessor speculative pricing.

Apple iPhone 11
64GB 4GB RAM₹ 51,999$ 681.33
128GB 4GB RAM₹ 56,999$ 1,352.56
Advantage
  • Vast game ecosystem, early releases and exclusive iOS titles
  • Most powerful chipset available
  • Great battery life, wireless charging support
  • IP68 rated
  • Very capable camera
Disadvantage
  • Low-res LCD, 60Hz only, notched too
  • Painfully slow charging with the bundled adapter
  • Expensive

After the launch of the iPhone 12 series, Apple chose to keep iPhone 11 in development. The good news is that the iPhone 11 is much cheaper now and remains a gaming handset. Indeed, we would argue, the iPhones were still. The combination of super-powerful equipment and a large array of games (some solely on the platform or early on) renders the iPhone 11 a smartphone. The long life of the battery is also not harmful.

The iPhone has a quick refresh rate of 60Hz, the style is very bland and non-flashy and has no game based handsets whistles and bells.

But outside of the use case called gaming is also a really strong telephone.

The newer iPhone 12 can also be considered for the enhanced chipset and OLED screen. It is also more costly and battery life is less luscious.

OnePlus 7T
128GB 8GB RAM₹ 37,999$ 419.99
256GB 8GB RAM$ 537.19$ 524.99
Advantage
  • 90Hz AMOLED display is excellent overall. Flat too, which we see as a bonus for handling while gaming
  • High-end internals, performance-oriented thermal policies
  • Great battery life, fast charging
  • Capable and versatile triple camera
Disadvantage
  • No official IP rating
  • Screen doesn’t actually run in 90Hz in most games

OnePlus 7T is a really strong all-rounder in this category with a range of features that make it a little more appropriate for gaming than others.

Sure, Snapdragon 855+ is also packaged, but also employs thermal policies based on efficiency that allow it to throw less and to improve under a sustained load. There is also a 90Hz monitor which is meant to be a blessing for gaming in principle, but for the majority of games it reverts to 60Hz in this case.

ZTE nubia Red Magic 5G
128GB 8GB RAM$ 549.79$ 679.99
256GB 12GB RAM$ 679.00$ 729.99
Advantage
  • The first (but not last) 144Hz AMOLED display in the business, minimal touch latency, bright
  • Snapdragon 865m built-in fan ensures sustained top performance for long gaming sessions
  • Hardware trigger buttons
  • Lower price than the competition
  • Quite the looker, LED-illuminated RGB elements
Disadvantage
  • Not many games can provide framerates to match screen refresh rate
  • Uninspiring camera performance
  • Confusing software and issues with translation
  • Outside of China, the 55W charger doesn’t come bundled

Another member of the Nubia Red Magic 5G gaming droids roster is more than just a magic 3s chipset and camera. This Nubia is also the first 144Hz OLED platform in addition to the latest Snapdragon and is a big deal.

Just like Red Magic 3’s predecessor, the 5G is cheap, ships around and it looks cool enough. The Nubia has built-in a cooling fan, what ROG Phones need to have an adapter for.

The camera output is not great for the picture, but for gaming it is one of the best in its class – the red magic 5G.

Instead of the latest 5S model for their advanced RGB-lit LED-elements, we chose to include the Red Magic 5G. Both phones are nearly similar, but the older 5G is cheaper and cheaper. Get it as soon as the stock does not last long if you are interested.

Lenovo Legion Duel
512GB 16GB RAM£ 879.17
Advantage
  • Great 144Hz OLED display, HDR10+, no cutouts
  • Promising battery life and blazing fast charging
  • Snapdragon 865+, 12GB or 16GB RAM, UFS3.1 storage
  • Shoulder trigger, RGB lights
  • Stereo speakers
Disadvantage
  • No IP rating
  • wireless charging No audio jack, no microSD slot
  • €1000

The Lenovo Legion Duel that was recently launched is beyond promise. It has a proper 144Hz OLED with a fast touch reaction and a lot of RAM, fast UFS3.1 storage, the fastest chip on the market yet, and of course shoulder triggers. The camera is mounted on a motorized pop-up mechanism on the edge, and it has no cuts on the frame. This also makes it perfect for posting on gaming sessions.

Lenovo says that he has configured 144 Hz monitor and activating shoulder for more than 130 games and works to get more developers into his hardware. The Duel is featured with an advanced two-heat pipes cooling system and the dual X-axis vibration engine from Lenovo that promises more than 100 types of long vibration patterns and 13 type of low responses.

The double camera is nothing special (64 main + 16MP ultra wide), but it’s a gamers, not a camera. However, the quick wired charging is what is exceptional. The battery is fed into two 2500 mAh cells at 5,000 mAh. It can be recharged at 90W in just 30 minutes and can be loaded entirely. In order to do this, you must plug into loaders in the two USB-C ports – on the bottom, and on the left and at the same time fill both cells.

Lenovo finally publishes the Lenovo Legion Duel as one of the best Xbox Pass phones. The creator provides a number of Duel accessories, including a dock that allows quick access to a computer. You can connect a mouse, a keyboard or a gamepad and play whenever you want. The duel isn’t cheap though – the starting price is €1000 and if you want any cool accessories, you’ll have to pay more. However, gaming was never cheap, did it?

Xiaomi Black Shark 3 Pro
256GB 8GB RAM$ 919.99
256GB 12GB RAM$ 870.99$ 1,029.99
Advantage
  • Not that expensive
  • Massive 7.1″ OLED display, 90Hz, HDR10
  • Promising battery life and very fast charging
  • Snapdragon 865
  • Shoulder trigger, RGB lights
  • Stereo speakers, audio jack
Disadvantage
  • No IP rating
  • No wireless charging

One of the more obvious options is Black Shark 3 Pro. It can also provide major improvements over the Black Shark 2 Pro, including a large HRR panel, a stronger chipset and a bigger, faster charging battery.

The Black Shark 3 Pro features a 7.1 inch OLED display with 90Hz refresh rates and an HDR10 playback. It also contains a 5,000mAh wide battery, which can be easily charged with the standard 65W chargers or the magnetic 18W.

The Black Shark 3 isn’t that expensive, it doesn’t make ROG money either.

Motorola Edge
128GB 6GB RAM$ 439.99€ 380.00
256GB 6GB RAM$ 495.53$ 624.99
Advantage
  • Splash-proof curvy design
  • Large HDR10 OLED with 90Hz refresh rate
  • Clean Android, gaming-oriented features such as virtual trigger buttons on the edge
  • The fastest midrange chip
  • Stereo speakers, dependable battery, good camera skills, 3.5mm jack
Disadvantage
  • Not the fastest charging
  • Uninspiring low-light camera performance

Motorola Side, no two words about this is a medium-range gaming telephone. It features strong advantages, such as a 90 Hz OLED, which allows you to add virtual trigger buttons on the sides, stereo and audio jack and has the hardware to deliver adequate game performance.

The Edge is also a strong all-rounder, even though none of these is differentiated by the nature of their images. But with its large battery and its superb autonomy, the Edge still impresses us. Finally, the clean Android OS and the many game-centered enhancements to Moto make a huge difference.

Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite 5G
64GB 6GB RAM$ 299.99€ 279.00
128GB 6GB RAM$ 404.99€ 285.00
Advantage
  • Large 6.67″ 120Hz HDR10 LCD screen
  • Gaming-friendly Snapdragon 750G 5G chip with 6GB RAM
  • Excellent battery life, fast charging
  • Plenty snappers with good overall quality
Disadvantage
  • the brightest display

The Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite is an outstanding budget gaming telephone. The Snapdragon 750G has more than enough punching for smooth play. It has an HRR HDR10 screen. Unlike on Realme HRR telephones, some games can go even beyond 60fps. We really appreciate the Mi10T Lite battery backup to last you a lot of gaming.

The Mi 10T Lite is also fantastic for videos. It has a night mode 64MP primary, an 8MP ultranet shooter and 2MP macro images can be snapshot. The pictures from the camera are not the most sharp, but it’s in the nitpicking territory at this price.

Huawei P40 lite
128GB 6GB RAM$ 232.86$ 279.99
Advantage
  • Large screen, small cutout
  • Excellent performance, great for gaming
  • Very good photos out day and night
Disadvantage
  • No Google Mobile Services
  • Memory expansion via NM cards

The Huawei P40 Lite is still a very balanced, performance-enabled and camera-life smartphone. Its monitor is also suitable for playing and transmitting videos. No Google services like most recent Huawei phones are available.

The Kirin810 chip, together with the EMUI 10 game optimization, is one of the best phones to be found in the midrange price bracket. Unfortunately, or not, you need to use other places than the Google Play Store to source your games.

The Huawei P40 Lite is really nice because the 40W load is fast. It takes 1 hour to charge the full battery 4,200mAh, but in 30 minutes you get 70%.

vivo iQOO 3 5G
Advantage
  • Shoulder buttons are a boon for gaming
  • Super bright AMOLED display
  • Top-class battery life, fast charging
  • Stable performance under sustained load, UFS 3.1 storage
Disadvantage
  • No HRR capability of the display
  • Single speaker, not very good at that

The iQOO 3 (in 5G or 4G trim) is a competent kit to be used generally, although it is not ideal for gaming. Sure, its screen lacks high-rates support and its camera is not as universal as some of the more costly versions. However, the 60Hz monitor is luminous as daylight and the trio of cams covering UW-1x-2x can work more than well.

Bevor we come to the high-end Snapdragon 865 chip which handles grace constantly and stores UFS 3.1 faster than the Galaxies and OnePluses of the day.

The iQOO is also a true longevity champ, with no 90Hz or 120Hz display modes to charge onto the battery when a battery does not function. Finally, the shoulder triggers make us list the iQOO 3 and you will be useful.

A slight warning here is that the phone is only available for all of you iQOO fans elsewhere, in China and India.
