What is this?
LineageOS is an open-source operating system that operates on the Android mobile platform for set-top boxes, smartphones and tablet computers. It is the successor to CyanogenMod’s Custom ROM, created by Cyanogen Inc.’s announcement in December 2016 that it is stopping its production and turning off the infrastructure behind the project. The project has rebranded the LineageOS branch, while Cyanogen Inc. kept the rights to the name Cyanogen.
On 24 December 2016, LineageOS officially launched with the GitHub source code. Since then, LineageOS development has now built more than 185 phone models with more than 1.9 million active installs, doubling their user base between February and March 2017, while Gerrit Code Review is available for contributions to LineageOS.
